The culminating performance of the Festival Playhouse of Kalamazoo College’s “Theatre and Social Justice” themed season. The production was based loosely on the Hindi novel Mai, by Geetanjali Shree, award winning Hindi novelist and short story writer. Kahani used many different methods of storytelling to explore the implicit power and hierarchical structures within the family and society.

Kahani was produced during a fellowship at the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership in 2012.

Following the performances at Kalamazoo, the students, along with chair of the theatre department, Ed Menta, director of the ARCUS Centre for Social Justice Leadership, Jaime Grant, and the lighting designer and technical director, Lanny Potts, travelled to NIRMAN, in Varanasi, India for three performances.
